Where has the month gone?!

What a blog post?!  I know, I know... it has been a while. We have been soooo busy this past month that I can't believe that it's almost July!

The house is really coming together inside. In the past 3 weeks they installed the cabinets, floors, lighting and countertops.

Here is a shot looking into the kitchen from the family room. This was taken at the beginning of June:

And here is a shot from couple of weeks ago of when they where installing the cabinets...

The kitchen has to be my favorite room in the house.
Why wouldn't it be?! I put so much thought into it!

My favorite thing about the kitchen is the Calacutta Gold Marble countertop on the island. It took quite a few trips to the granite warehouse to find the perfect slab. Here it is at the warehouse. Calacutta Gold is a much warmer tone marble than the traditional Cararra.

Here it is when they were installing it and the black granite.

In other news, they are in the process of doing the tile and this past weekend they stained the hardwood floors. We stopped by on our lunch break to pick out a stain. Let me tell you it is not an easy task!

Which one would you have picked?

It took a while for me to make up my mind but we went with the one on top in the picture below which is 3 parts of Provincial (color on bottom) and 1 part Antique Brown:

Here is a shot of the Laundry Room floor. I went with something fun and different. Why? Just to do it I guess!

More to come!

Long Weekend...

Last weekend for the most part was pretty productive on our part. It took us the better part of a couple of days but we put up the board and batten in our dining room...

Plus the painters finished painting the whole house with the first coat so now it really is starting look like a home!

Trim work!

All the walls are sheetrocked and mudded.....

I have got to get me some of these stilts!

And now the trim work is almost done!

This looking into the Dining Room. See those blotches of paint colors...well we spent quite a few hours this past weekend debating over paint colors. Hopefully within the next week the interior will be primed and painted!

Oh and we have an actual staircase!

Next up - Cabinets! Can't wait to see how they turned out!

I know...it's been a while...

We have been soooo busy lately that I have not had the time nor energy to post but the house has taken major strides...

The biggest change is that we have sheetrock!

This is looking into the kitchen... try to imagine a farmhouse sink under those windows!

See that small little door? That is Muffin's pet door. We have big plans for it!

Here is a shot of the front door...

And this is the great room... Don't mind me, I am just fixing the window mullins...

The other major change is the house is painted!

It sure is white!
The color is Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee OC-45

What do you think?

We painted the windows and the mullins Sherwin Williams Porpoise. I will admit when they were doing it I was a bit scared...

Bathroom Inspiration

We are in the thick of it now! So much is happening with the house right now and I have to make decisions! Ahhh! If you know me, you know I am the most indecisive person on the face of this earth.

But... I am getting close. Here are my thoughts for the bathrooms:

The Powder Bathroom

We are doing beadboard on the lower portion of the wall and I am going to do a stencil treatment on the top portions similar to the ones above.

This is the dresser that I have finally decided on. It only took me about 5 months!  Now I just need to buy it and put a sink in it, cut about 2 inches to make it a little shorter and find a faucet!  Piece of cake! ;)

This  is the tile I will probably use on the floor in the Powder Bathroom as well as the Jack-n-Jill bathrooms upstairs.

The upstairs bathrooms will have this vanity (similar to one from Potterybarn but at a much better price off of Ebay!)

But.... I am thinking that I will paint it a warm grey....

For the tile on the floor I am going to use the white octagon tile but use black grout to warm it up like in these photos:

The fixtures will be chrome and I am thinking something like this for the vanity lights:

Now I just need to figure out the Master Bath!
